I like to think I’m a good musician. Certainly good enough for the sorts of novelty comedy songs that are my bread and butter. However….
For the past year plus, I have had the pleasure of playing in a rock band with some actually terrific musicians that are so good, they make me look like a hack, and yet they still hang out with me, and we still manage to sound pretty damn good together.
Anyway, that band is Law of the Sea, and we play 80’s-inspired, delayed-guitar pop in the tradition of U2, the Cure, The Smiths, and the Cocteau Twins, among others. We’ve finally got some tracks on wax and hope that you, the reader will join us at this party where we are celebrating the production of our first CD. Your $10 gets you into the party, and earns you the right to buy our CD at cost for one night only.
The party is in one of the best-sounding rock venues I’ve been to in my life, the Ace of Clubs. We have it all to ourselves, and the lineup is packed with 3 other terrific bands whom I wholeheartedly endorse:
8:00pm Shayna Ferm and the Upper Deckers
8:45 Dear Lions
10:30 Law of the Sea
Doors open at 7, music starts at 8, and afterwards, we party all night with DJ Dan Hewitt on the one and the two. The evening will be emceed by the Best Week Ever blog’s Dan Hopper.
That’s this coming Saturday, April 3rd, at the Ace of Clubs: 9 Great Jones St, between Broadway and Lafayette.
We’ve been working on new songs, a couple of fun covers, and other surprises that you’ll never find out about unless you come out to this thing. So come out to this thing!
